The toxicology results for the three American women who died at the Royal Kahal Beach Resort in San Pedro, Belize, revealed that the cause of death was likely carbon monoxide poisoning. Their carboxyhemoglobin levels were significantly elevated, above 60%, which is much higher than the normal range. The findings ruled out drug overdoses, as no illicit substances were detected in their bodies. This has led authorities to focus on a faulty water heater in their hotel room as the probable source of the carbon monoxide, which may have led to their deaths.
