The Royal Kahal Beach Resort remains closed after three American women of Moroccan descent—Imane Mallah (24), Kaoutar Naqqad (23), and Wafae El Arar (26)—were found dead in their room on February 22nd. Their deaths are being investigated, with a focus on the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning, after high levels of the gas were detected at the resort. Initially, drug overdose was considered, as froth was found in their mouths, but a post-mortem revealed they died from acute pulmonary edema. Additional carbon monoxide tests are being conducted based on reports from former guests who detected the gas. Toxicology test results are still pending, and police are waiting for those to clarify the cause. The resort’s closure is voluntary, and it may reopen depending on the investigation’s outcome. There are no signs of foul play or forced entry into the room.
