
In the general elections held on March 12, 2025, the People’s United Party (PUP) secured a decisive victory in Belize, winning 26 out of 31 seats in the House of Representatives. The opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) won the remaining five seats.
Prime Minister Johnny Briceño, leader of the PUP, was re-elected for a second term. International leaders, including Taiwan’s government, congratulated Briceño and the PUP on their electoral success.
Voter turnout was reported at 50.64%, with 99,766 of the 197,018 registered voters participating in the election.
